SEO Tools
A quick look at some indispensable SEO tools, remarkably all from the same person (Mong at Digital Point forums). Make these your friends!
I’ve explained what they do briefly below, but go check them out and see for yourself and all will become clearer.
Backlink Checker - type in a website address and see a list of all the links to that page, including the page rank, number of other links on the page, anchor text, and whether the link has the ‘nofollow’ attribute.
Use this to check out your competitors, see who is linking to them, and so on. Then go one better yourself.
Niche Watch - Enter a keyword or phrase, and see the top 20 results form google. You can also enter your own website name for comparison purposes.
The information shows the page rank, number of links to each of the sites, number of pages in the sites and so on. Again, a great tool to compare your own site and performance with your competitors. If you know what they are doing and how they do it - you can do the same.
Page Rank Checker - Comes into its own at the time of a pagerank update. You can manage without checking your PR all the time, but if you prefer to monitor your PR across lots of datacentres and check for movements (usually the first sign that a toolbar pagerank export is starting) this is the place to do it.
Best of its type because of the sexy way the numbers appear on the screen, slowly revealing that no, your pagerank hasn’t changed quite yet.
Beware! It is easy to spend hours here during a pagerank update checking and rechecking for signs of change. This is not a good use of your time (although I’ll be doing the same).
